I purchased this cane because I have never worked with a metal appearing cane but the floppiness of the plastic appearing canes was too obvious in the effect I wanted to use it for.
This metal cane is very quick and very solid when extended. There are a few small scratches with silver showing through, which makes me think it might scratch up easily in the future, but it looks good now.
The decorative tape at the top of the cane is folded over the edge and closing the cane will force the tape on the inside of the cane to peel back, which simply means you need to trim it off. This makes no difference for the the appearance of the cane to the audience. Be careful, however, as trimming the tape may expose the sharp metal.
The release is different than on Fanstasio canes...not sure if it's like other metal ones or not. It's a little more awkward at first, but does allow you to release the stopper while in Tenkai.
All in all, this appears to be a great cane for the price. I've never worked with other metal canes, but you'd have to imagine the $160 ones are better...but if you're not sure you want to spend that much or want to try out some new effects first, this is definitely the way to go.
