While the item does in fact do what it's designed to do, straight out of the box it presents very badly. The factory sealed box had moisture inside and smelled of mildew. The protective plastic bag was stuck to the prop on the black flocked edge and there was other damage already present on another area of the flocked edge. The hasp and hinges were badly oxidized beyond normal cleaning. The sword has a very flimsy handle that does nothing as far as convincing people of it being a real, menacing sword. All of these issues would seem to come from cheap production standards and did not matter to me since I had plans to convert it to a standing 'stocks' prop for my magic show finale anyway, but if you are a working professional expecting a decent quality prop straight out of the box, this is NOT it. If you buy it and do so with the intent of improving the quality with a refurbish and semi- repurpose as I did, it's an ok 'starting point' prop. The quality issues present in this prop are NOT the fault of MJM, but of the manufacturer. Hopefully, MJM will forward my concerns to the manufacturer so that future versions of this prop will benefit from improvements in regards to quality.
