ESP cards were developed and introduced by Dr. J. B. Rhine of Duke University for the purpose of testing for Extrasensory Perception. They consist of five basic symbols: Circle, Cross, Wavy Lines, Square, and Star. It is very easy to remember these symbols by using a quick and easy numbering system. A circle is one continuous line. A cross is two lines. There are three wavy lines in the third symbol. A square has four lines. The star used has five points. This deck consists of twenty-five cards, five cards of each design. A man and a woman are asked to help.

The woman is asked to choose a photo...any one...a completely free choice, and she can change her mind as often as she likes until she is 100% sure that she has the one she wants. The photo she chooses is placed face up in front of her on the table.

The man is given the same choice, and it is explained that the photo that he does not choose will be left for the performer. Again, he has a completely free choice, and can change his mind as often as he likes. The photo he chooses is placed in front of him, and the remaining photo is placed in front of the performer.

The quote by Marcus Aurelius is mentioned again.

"Isn't it interesting how this quote often relates so well to our lives? It makes me wonder if the reason that things often work out this way is due to fate, or perhaps our own intuition of the way things should be. Even in simple demonstrations like this...everything has unfolded as it must..."

No forcing, equivoque, secret writing, switching, ambiguity, or multiple outcomes (the outcome will always be as listed above).

Only 3 photos are used. The participants make all of the choices.

You take the card that is on the table and on the other blank side you write something, again this word will be exactly correct. You tell him to turn to the page after the one he chose and to read either the first or the last word on this page, without fishing or anything suspicious, you tell him the same word that he is thinking!

SIXTH SENSE REVISITED : Call a spectator on stage, tell him to take a coin behind his back and to hold it in one of his hands, you also do this at the same time. He then brings his hands out in front and you do the same in front of you. Ask the spectator to open the hand that holds the coin and you then reveal that you hold the coin in the same hand as the spectator. You do this 3 times in a row!

REMOTE VISION : The person on the other end of the telephone is asked to imagine a simple image. You then draw something on a piece of paper. Afterwards you take a picture with your mobile phone that you send to him via MMS. The person opens the MMS to find the exact duplication of the image that he was thinking of.

DEJA WORDS : A spectator chooses a random word from a packet of different words under hypnotic suggestion. An envelope, that was present on stage throughout, is opened to reveal the word that was chosen by the spectator. At the end of the experiment the spectator believes to have been hypnotized.

USING THE MONOTONE OF THE VOICE : A tool that will enhance your performance by using the tone of the voice.

You have 16 cards; each with a different food item displayed on them – this is your shopping list. The spectator mixes up the cards. The spectator then chooses one of the cards. This is done twice. You are then able to tell the spectator which two cards they have chosen without you having to look at the cards. Very impressive!

This is a great effect. You can adapt the patter to suit whatever theme, using food items, you wish. The cards are printed with a food item on one side and the receipt for all of the 16 food items on the reverse.

You can talk about how you purchased these 16 items, but had to return two items due to them being out of date, or of poor quality. The spectator chooses two items, at random, and then you reveal which two items were chosen by the spectator.

As a bonus, you can then reveal that you knew the total that was paid for these two items. As an ‘kicker’, that is just simply genius.

A clear light bulb is removed from a lamp (for example a table light), which has been turned on and off, and can be shown to spectators to be a regular bulb. The performer holds the base of the bulb between his fingers and concentrates on it.

Suddenly and unexpectedly the bulb explodes and shutters into little pieces.

The "REDONKULOUS!" Routine

Before the show begins a spectator is asked to merely think of any word from either side of a large broadsheet from the local daily newspaper. She has a free choice of literally hundreds or possibly thousands of words. After mentally selecting a word the performer seals the newspaper in an envelope and the spectator takes it with her back to her seat. During the show the performer asks for the envelope from the spectator tears it open and removes the newspaper. The performer explains that the spectator is concentrating on a word from somewhere on the paper and it will be the audience's job to find that very word. As impossible as it may seem. Tearing the newspaper into two pieces the performer asks a random audience member to choose either half to discard. The choice is made and the performer tears the remaining piece in half and asks another audience member to select a half to discard. The selection is made and the performer again tears the remaining piece in half asking an audience member to select either half to toss away, yet again. Left with a piece about four inches square the performer calls on a final helper from the audience to join him on stage. This spectator is asked to close his eyes and raise a finger and to drop it somewhere on the piece of paper. The spectator does this and is asked to open his eyes and without saying a thing to remember the word that he pointed to. The spectator is then handed a white board and marking pen, and asked to write the word in big bold letters on the board and keep it concealed from the audience's view. While he is doing this the performer engages the original spectator thinking of a word and asks her to stand and for the first time call out her mentally thought of word in a loud voice. She states her word is, for example, "Flytrap!" The performer asks the spectator with the white board to turn the board around and show everyone the word he pointed to...it is also "Flytrap!"

"REDONKULOUS!" Considerations:

The Mirage by Koontz & Haim Goldenberg

The mentalist shows a medium-size board, and draws on it an 8-inch circle with a marker. This he calls, and Energy Circle.

A volunteer is asked to draw a drawing inside the Energy Circle. While the volunteer is drawing, the mentalist holds the board between himself and the volunteer, while his head is turned away from the board. The audience sees he can't see what the volunteer is drawing. After the volunteer finishes his drawing, the mentalist hands him the board cleaner (the sponge) and asks him to erase the drawing. Then, right before the eyes of the audience, he successfully reconstructs the erased drawing!

Die Cipher II trick

Effect: While your back is turned, a spectator examines a solid brass die, a round canister and its lid. He places the die inside the canister, any way he chooses, and remembers the number on top. He places the lid on the canister, sealing the die inside. You turn around, pick up the canister, concentrate for a moment, then announce the number that he is thinking of. You or the spectator can now open the canister, and the predicted number is revealed!

A Very Visual Magic Trick!

A card is selected and lost in the deck. The magician announces that he has an envelope with a prediction he proceeds to show to the audience. The deck is held by the spectator. The magician tosses the envelope into the air and it turns magically into the selected card.

Now the deck is ribbon spread and in the place of the card they find the envelope that contains a small duplicate of the same card selected by the spectator.

This was one of the most talked about effects from Devin Knight's recent lecture tour. A different handling for the tossed-out deck that fooled many magicians.

What makes this version different? The deck is examined and shuffled by a spectator before the effect begins. The cards are freely shown to be different(no glued together cards)to the audience. Once the deck is banded, the performer lifts up the various parts of the deck showing the audience DIFFERENT CARDS as he explains how to peek at a card.

The SAME deck is tossed out and three people each peek at a card. The 3 predictions written by the Magician are exactly matches with the cards selected by the spectator. The presenter uses a deck of cards and a transparent plexi card stand for the trick. The deck used is normal pack of cards not gimmicked, so the audience can examine it. Before the trick the spectator can shuffle the deck. No sleight of hand is involved.

The Killer Red Caps is a breakthrough method of divination that has baffled the experts. Apparent psychic ability at your fingertips. It's a close up stunner that can be performed totally surrounded.

EFFECT: Five red plastic caps are on a table. A spectator is instructed to place a small object under any one of the caps after the performer has left the room. The caps can be mixed, or moved, it's up to the spectator. The performer returns. Instantly, he knows which cap contains the object! In it's barest form; it's only a one in five chance. But as we add the smoke, and presentation, the effect soars!

You give the note pad to 3 or 4 spectators and ask them to write a few three digit numbers. Then you ask another person to add the numbers together and it will, without fail, match your prediction!

Effect:

A rectangular board is standing upright on a table. In the board there are four large holes in which small inflated balloons of different colors are lodged.

The performer declares that he has pasted a prediction label on the rear side of the board just under the colored balloons, which he wishes to save. The prediction label has a bold white arrow on a colored background.

Any three spectators then choose a balloon color. They are free choices no color is forced. As each color is called the performer bursts the balloon with that color using either a pointed rod or a lit cigarette.

In the end only the balloon that nobody has nominated remains. The performer (without any clumsy moves) turns the board around to show the label (with a white arrow on a colored background that matches with the color of the balloon) fixed to the back, just under the unharmed balloon.
