During the early years of the Magic Castle, Bruce Cervon spent most evenings in the company of the Professor, Dai Vernon, studying the art of close-up magic. For more than a decade, Bruce kept a series of notebooks that have come to be known as The Castle Notebooks, and over the years, a few of his routines were released through magazines such as Ibidem, Cardiste, Magick, Genii, Pallbearer's Review, and The Hierophant. With each new release, Bruce's worldwide reputation loomed larger, but these infrequent articles were as close as anyone came to "The Castle Notebooks." Since those early days, Bruce's reputation as a creator and performer of close-up magic has been firmly established. Laymen know him from appearances with Johnny Carson, Merv Griffin, Dick Cavett, Mike Douglas and on That's Incredible. Magicians have recognized his abilities by twice naming him the Magic Castle's Close-Up Magician of the Year and in the year 2000, Bruce was presented with a Performing Fellowship by the Academy of Magical Arts.

Bruce finally opened his Castle Notebooks and selected sixty-four routines using business cards, coins and bills, slates, a handkerchief and rope and enough top-notch card magic to keep everyone from the novice to the seasoned cardician busy for years. The text, along with 225 clear line-drawings are beautifully hardbound, gold stamped and protected by a striking dustjacket. ----
