The Effect:
The magician displays elegant looking head stocks to the audience, similar to those used in the past to restrain criminals and put them on public display. He locks his assistant into the stocks with chains and locks. An audience member checks that the locks and chains are firmly in place and that it should be impossible for the assistant to escape. The magician stands behind the assistant and raises the curtain. Shortly after that the curtain is dropped and the assistant is free. The magician himself is now locked in the head stocks!!
