The deck is split in half, one portion to the performer, the other to the spectator. Both place their packets under the table, eliminating any chance of influence. Each person freely selects a card, turns it face up, and slides it back into their half.
When both packets are brought above the table and spread... the only face-up cards match!
But the miracle doesn't end there. The process is repeated, but this time, the magician never touches his deck. Yet once again, when both halves are revealed, the face-up cards are identical.
